Waveshare Modbus POE ETH Relay
Integration of Waveshare Modbus POE ETH Relay using Modbus TCP
The Waveshare Modbus POE ETH Relay is an industrial-grade, dual-Ethernet, 8-channel relay module with 8 optocoupler-isolated digital inputs. It speaks Modbus RTU/Modbus TCP, supports IEEE 802.3af PoE (or 7–36 V DC), and ships in a DIN-rail ABS case. The onboard relays are rated up to 10 A at 250 VAC / 30 VDC, making the module suitable for switching lighting circuits, contactors, irrigation valves, gate/garage drives, HVAC enable lines, and similar loads, while the isolated inputs let you read dry or wet contacts (door/window reeds, flow switches, pushbuttons, panel status) back into your automation.

Device preparation
The module is controlled and monitored entirely over Modbus TCP. The device is identified by its IP address, so no additional slave address is needed and the slave/Server ID defaults to 1. The standard Modbus TCP port (502) is used — configure the module's IP in the Connection settings and you are ready.
Configuration
Download the example from our website and import it into your configuration. Step by step instructions on how to import are available in our instructional video.
This example demonstrates how to obtain comprehensive control and status of the Waveshare Modbus POE ETH Relay from bOS: all 8 relay outputs can be toggled directly from bOS, and the status of all 8 digital inputs is read back in real time. The example also comes with a visualization panel exposing all relay and input functions; the panels can be copied to the theme and used in the Client app.
