Project Description

Implemented by Archimede Plus Srl, this project transformed an existing villa in Modena into a responsive living environment. Designed by eb studio, the residence features extensive glazed areas and motorized curtains, which made solar and weather management central to the automation strategy.

The existing KNX installation was upgraded with ComfortClick Jigsaw, preserving the installed infrastructure while adding a new layer of logic, visualization and interaction. Lighting, climate control, shading, security and outdoor systems now work together in one environment.

A weather station provides real-time data on temperature, wind, brightness and sun position. In case of rain or strong wind, a protection function secures the motorized curtains across the property, including the roof-mounted curtains and the large awning enclosing the pool area. Homeowners can adjust the wind threshold in the ComfortClick app or disable the protection when needed.

The most distinctive feature is solar tracking across three façades of an almost entirely glazed area. The system automatically sets the curtain opening based on the time of day and the sun's position, managing natural light and solar exposure. Its behaviour can be monitored through ComfortClick graphs and temporarily paused from the app or through scheduled programs.

The system also manages indoor and outdoor lighting, thermostats and setpoints, zone valves, roller shutters, gates, two garage doors and three ventilation units for humidity control. The Ksenia intrusion detection system is integrated for customized arming, disarming and alarm scenarios, while IP cameras with video analytics detect virtual line crossings in the garden and automatically switch on outdoor lighting.

Sunlight, weather, security events and user preferences become inputs for coordinated actions, while the homeowner can monitor, adjust or disable any function at any time.
