Project Description

Implemented by swithc, this residential project in Wroclaw uses ComfortClick as the central platform for visualization, supervisory control and energy management.

The KNX installation brings lighting, shading, HVAC, room controls and technical functions together in one system. Modbus connects the photovoltaic inverter and battery storage, giving ComfortClick access to real-time energy production, household consumption, grid import and export, and battery status.

The project’s key feature is its predictive energy-management strategy. It combines live energy data, building conditions and weather and photovoltaic forecasts to coordinate flexible loads. Surplus renewable energy can be directed to domestic hot water, a multi-stage electric heater, building thermal storage and pool heating. Selected loads can also be postponed until more photovoltaic energy is available. The system takes battery reserves and peak grid demand into account.

ComfortClick data logging and visualization give the homeowner a clear overview of energy production, consumption, battery status and system decisions. The project shows how KNX and ComfortClick can coordinate energy, comfort and third-party systems to increase self-consumption and reduce reliance on the grid.

The project was nominated for the KNX Awards 2026 in the Sustainability category.
