Integration of Sunny boy into bOS via Modbus

DOWNLOAD

At the heart of the SMA Home Energy Solution is the Sunny Boy Smart Energy hybrid inverter. This system enables both immediate energy use and storage in one single device. SMA Backup Secure is back (previously Secure Power Supply).

Device preparation

The Modbus interface is deactivated by default and the communication ports 502 set. In order to access SMA invertes with SMA Modbus® or SunSpec® Modbus®, the Modbus interface must be activated. After activating the interface, the communication ports of both IP protocols can be changed. For information on commissioning and configuration of the Modbus interface, see the Technical Information "SMA Modbus® Interface" or in the Technical Information "SunSpec® Modbus® Interface" at www.SMA-Solar.com.

Configuration

Download the example from our website and import it into your configuration. Step by step instructions on how to import are available in our instructional video.

Once modbus is enabled on the device fill out the connection settings in the main Modbus node (correct IP and port). The example also comes with its own visualization panel, so drag it into your current visualization or use panel link to have the control enabled in bOS Client app. Custom image is also included for the visualization for better visualization understanding of the whole operation.
